Year of the Dragon- Dragon Robes by Catherine Foster

WE WELCOME THE YEAR OF THE DRAGON, 2012

01/23/2012 – 02/09/2013 (Water)

According to the Chinese Zodiac, the Year of 2012 is the Year of the Dragon.  The Dragon is a creature of myth and legend.  In ancient China, the celestial Dragon represents an emperor and  power. Today, it  is the ultimate auspicious symbol signifying success and happiness. The dragon usually clutches a pearl symbolic of its super-natural powers.  Invariably accompanied by thunder and rain, dragons move like lightning and whirlwinds – - all powerful yet totally unpredictable. May the celestial Dragon bring great good luck to everyone as the year of the Dragon will be marked by excitement, unpredictability, exhilaration and intensity.

“I have been inspired to create Dragon Robes with the energy of Dragons. It is the tenth year anniversary of Dragonfire Studio Gallery in Cannon Beach.”

In honor of the year of the Dragon, Dragon Robe #1 by Catherine Foster

Dragon Robe #1-mixed media copper, aluminum, glass,

fabrics, found objects.

There is a special time between the spark of inspiration and the completed piece that marks both reality and total immersion. The end product becomes a physical manifestation of this creative process that has the ability to stir something deep within us with its mysterious beauty. –Catherine Foster
