This art peice was the last in this series before working in copper and the start of the Kimono series. It has been a favorite of mine and in my personal collection. Often pieces in my collection talk to me and say "It is time to go to someone else". So I am putting it out to the world for someone who feels like it belongs to them for them to enjoy the healing Reiki energy that was placed inside the art.

The piece is 36"Wx 54" Lx 2"D with the exception of the fabric at the top that goes over the side 2 .5 inches. I often leave fabric, threads hanging down or take the collaged pieces outside the boarders of the artwork as a symbol that the "fabric of life" is never completed.
It is on canvas with collaged fabrics, trims, rope, feathers, sand etc. for texture and painted in oil paints. I let the artwork tell me what it wants. Whenever I try to control the artwork, it does not work for me. There is an interaction of energetic conversation that happens when I create. I listen and follow how the art wants to be expressed through me. Often it feels like the artwork is an entity of its own. It is such a joy to be an artist. I cannot ever see me not creating art. I love to sing and dance and it becomes a part of the energy of my process of creating all artwork.
I find it interesting that there is a Kimono shape in the piece. Maybe that was the start of the Kimono series coming through me? Sometimes images that I did not remember putting in the artwork show up years later. Maybe it is just that I am looking at the piece from a different perspective in life?
Since the beginning of my art career, I have always worked in Series. In future blogs I will talk about some of the other series and how they started and ended. I have found that when a series is done it is done! In a way it feels like whatever wanted to be said through me was finished talking. Much like the feeling of the end of a book. There is a beginning, middle and end.
Through almost all the series I have created, there is one symbol that always seems to be expressed in my artwork. Weaving! Weaving the energies of life, people, animals, plants, insects, sea life, politics, history and religion.
Weaving is an example of how people throughout my life have come and gone and come back again woven in my experience. There is a weaving of family where the fabric is strong and where there are holes and knots when a family member dies or decides to not be a part of the clan anymore.
Life is so interesting to me in how our life experiences show up in the Golden Fabric of Life. As I close the door on the Kimono Series, I expect that the symbols of weaving will find another expression in the new modality I am currently beginning.
